The department offers BA English Literature, Communication and Journalism under Choice Based Credit and Semester System (CBCSS) of Kerala University. The focus of the program is on developing strong writing and analytical skills as well as providing knowledge of literary theory and history. Students acquire skills and expertise in written and oral communication, critical thinking about literary and other texts, grammar and linguistics.

The department has developed a unique culture of learning process by suitably mixing group discussions, seminars, debates, quiz, listening exercises, videos of all time famous plays, power point presentation, assignments, class tests etc.along with the regular curricular transactions. 

The department also offers Communication Skills Enhancement Programmes which help the students to develop a flair for creative writing through specialized workshops.Numerous career options are available to graduates in English literature in the fields of teaching, editing, writing and journalism.
